Position Overview

The Network Engineer/Administrator Tier 2 / Senior Computer Network Architect supports and enhances mission‑critical datacenter and enterprise network infrastructure at USCENTCOM Headquarters. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of network services that directly support national defense operations, working onsite and collaborating with network operations teams, IT stakeholders, and Department of Defense partners.

Responsibilities
  • Datacenter Network Engineering & Operations
    • Deploy, support, and optimize datacenter network infrastructure and associated services.
    • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade network hardware and software across physical and virtual environments.
    • Analyze existing architectures to improve workflows, resolve technical issues, and enhance operational efficiency.
    • Support the resilience, scalability, and security of datacenter network designs as technologies and mission requirements evolve.
  • Network Troubleshooting & Optimization
    • Troubleshoot and resolve service‑impacting incidents involving routing, switching, cabling, and server connectivity.
    • Diagnose and remediate issues across LAN environments and both traditional and virtualized server infrastructures.
    • Perform root‑cause analysis on complex network problems and implement corrective and preventive solutions.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work collaboratively with multiple internal work centers and network operations teams.
    • Interface with USCENTCOM clients, external DoD organizations, and supporting contractors.
    • Coordinate with information services, contract management, government leadership, and IT staff to ensure seamless network operations.
  • Network Architecture & Modernization
    • Contribute to the design and advancement of modern datacenter network fabrics using Cisco technologies.
    • Integrate network solutions with orchestration, virtualization, and cloud‑adjacent platforms.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on performance, security, and operational effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Cisco Certified Networking Professional – CCNP.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on experience supporting enterprise or datacenter network environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with VMware technologies, including virtual distributed switching and network virtualization platforms.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Cisco networking platforms, including Cisco Nexus 7000/9000 series and NX‑OS, enterprise routing and switching technologies.
  • Hands‑on experience implementing and supporting network protocols such as OSPF, IS‑IS, BGP/MP‑BGP, GRE, NAT, vPC, Fabric Path, OTV, VXLAN, and related technologies.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot large‑scale, complex network infrastructures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize workloads, prioritize tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team‑oriented environment.
  • Active SECRET clearance with eligibility for TS.
  • U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with additional routing and networking technologies, including EIGRP.
  • Knowledge of LAN and WAN design principles in large enterprise or DoD environments.
  • Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
  • Familiarity with Cisco Nexus Dashboard and network monitoring or analytics tools.
  • Additional experience with VMware NSX, virtual distributed switching, and hypervisor platforms.
  • Prior work in IT service management environments or highly reliable, mission‑critical organizations.
