Director, Connectivity & Integration Operations

Join to apply for the Director, Connectivity & Integration Operations role at Inovalon

Inovalon was founded in 1998 on the belief that technology, and data specifically, would empower the transformation of the entire healthcare ecosystem for the better, improving both outcomes and economics. At Inovalon, we focus on empowering our customers with data‑driven solutions to improve healthcare. Our unified culture of inclusion and innovation delivers solutions that address healthcare’s greatest needs.

The Director, Connectivity & Integration Operations is responsible for leading the operational strategy, governance, and tooling that power Inovalon’s connectivity with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and other healthcare data systems. This leader ensures that every connection between Inovalon’s SaaS and data platforms and the broader healthcare ecosystem is secure, scalable, measurable, and repeatable. The role combines operational excellence with deep interoperability expertise—overseeing the lifecycle of integration readiness from partner onboarding through production monitoring and optimization.

The Director will accelerate connectivity and support Inovalon’s mission of enabling better outcomes through data.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as the operational owner for Inovalon’s EMR, RCM and Payer API ecosystems and health system connectivity programs.
  • Develop and maintain a standardized framework for how Inovalon products connect, exchange data, and maintain interoperability with external systems.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure connectivity capabilities align with roadmap priorities and evolving market standards (FHIR, HL7v2, X12, C‑CDA).
  • Own tooling, processes, and automation infrastructure that support integration design, configuration, testing, and production deployment.
  • Define metrics and dashboards for integration performance, uptime, and partner readiness.
  • Lead root‑cause and continuous‑improvement efforts for connectivity incidents or data quality issues.
  • Manage the portfolio of integration tools (commercial off‑the‑shelf tooling and internal API investments/infrastructure).
  • Champion automation and standardization across environments to improve speed, quality, and observability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to identify opportunities for integration platform enhancements.
  • Partner with Product Management to align connectivity initiatives with product strategy and customer needs.
  • Work closely with Partner and Customer Success teams to ensure readiness for new EMR and EHR integrations.
  • Coordinate with Compliance, Security, and IT to ensure all connectivity meets regulatory and internal standards (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).
  • Establish governance mechanisms for integration design and change control.
  • Regularly review operational KPIs, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Present integration performance and strategic connectivity updates to executive leadership.
  • Lead and mentor the team.
  • Cultivate a high‑performance, accountability‑driven culture centered on quality and collaboration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Expert‑level understanding of FHIR, HL7v2, X12, and C‑CDA standards and workflows.
  • Experience working with or integrating major EMRs (Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, MEDITECH, Next Gen, athenahealth, eClinical

    Works, etc.).
  • Proven success implementing or managing integration tools (Mirth, Rhapsody, Iguana, Redox, etc.).
  • Strong operational and leadership acumen with a history of building and improving scalable processes.
  • Excellent communication and cross‑functional influence skills.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, HITRUST, and healthcare data compliance frameworks.
Travel Requirements
  • Approximately 20% for internal collaboration, customer meetings, and partner engagement.
