Overview
The Human Resources Director serves as a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for the full spectrum of HR functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with applicable laws. This role oversees performance management, employee development, and organizational design to strengthen talent pipelines and support career growth. The Director leads all recruitment efforts, while also managing immigration and green card sponsor ships in partnership with outside counsel.
In addition, the position is accountable for administering the firms’ benefits policies and programs, advising managers on employee relations, and ensuring policy compliance. The Director maintains HR systems and metrics, provides actionable insights to leadership, and ensures employment practices meet regulatory standards. Through culture and engagement initiatives, this role plays a key part in fostering an inclusive, high-performing workplace that attracts, develops, and retains top talent.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance performance management system: goal setting, reviews, feedback.
- Advise managers on coaching, corrective action, development plans.
- Lead organizational development efforts: job structure, career pathing, succession planning.
- Facilitate employee training and professional development programs.
- Lead full‑cycle recruiting: sourcing, interviewing, hiring and onboarding for all positions.
- Manage TGP’s college recruiting and internship programs.
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, evaluate candidates, ensure cultural alignment.
- Manage offer negotiations and new hire integration.
- Oversee and execute company policies and practices related to hiring foreign nationals.
- Manage visa applications (H‑1B, H1B1, etc.) and green card processes from start to finish.
- Liaise with immigration attorneys; ensure compliance with immigration laws.
- Track regulatory changes in immigration law and proactively advise leadership.
- Oversee employee benefits programs such as health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement and other benefits.
- Ensure accurate administration of benefit plans, and vendor relationships.
- Conduct benchmarking to maintain competitive benefit offerings.
- Communicate benefits to employees through new hire orientation and open enrollment meetings and assist employees with questions or concerns about plans and coverage.
- Maintain and update HR policies in the TGP Practice Guide and ensure legal compliance.
- Advise managers on disciplinary action and workplace issues.
- Conduct investigations into employee complaints, ensuring fairness and compliance.
- Maintain employee data in HRIS ensuring accurate records of hires, terminations, immigration status, performance, and benefits.
- Generate HR metrics and reporting (turnover, diversity, cost per hire, visa statuses, etc.).
- Oversee compliance with payroll, employment, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive initiatives that foster strong workplace culture and employee engagement.
- Support events, recognition programs, feedback channels that enhance organizational cohesion.
- Bachelor’s degree and PHR or SHRM-CP certification is required
- Minimum of 7‑10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in an architecture/design/engineering or professional services firm or related industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing visa / green card sponsorship processes, working knowledge of immigration case types.
- Strong experience in performance management systems and organizational development.
- Hands‑on benefits administration.
- Experience with college recruiting, internship program management.
- Familiarity with applicable employment law and compliance (federal, state, local).
- Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Strong project management ability; capable of handling multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
