From routine eye exams and optical retail, to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and surgical procedures, our patients experience end-to-end personalized care and service.

Job Type: Full-time

Candidate will be required to participate in an onsite skills assessment prior to offer.

Role: The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for collecting and recording ocular and systemic patient histories, visual acuities, BP, IOP, Auto refractions, Manifest Refractions, performing external examinations, and dry-eye testing, as well as disease specific extra testing.

• Collecting and recording patient medical history
• Instructing patients on post-operative care, medication use, contact lens care and exam expectations
• Performing visual acuity testing, auto and Manifest Refractions (measurements for the glasses prescription), tonometry (measuring eye pressure)
• Measuring pupil size and reactivity using PERRLA
• Testing elements of movement (eye muscle function)
• Performing confrontational visual field testing, pachymetry (corneal thickness measurement)
• Performing dry eye testing including Zone Quick and TBUT, Interferometry, brightness acuity testing
• Participating in light cleaning of the facility
• Maintaining a sanitized environment
• Performing corneal topography, retinal nerve fiber layer measurements, retinal thickness and topography, fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonography
• Assisting with contact lens fitting and instructing patients on insertion and removal of contacts
• Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures including consenting patients
• Assisting with lasers or minor procedures

Travel may be required to support clinics in Hillsborough County. Pay provided for travel time and reimbursement for mileage.

Required:

• Minimum of one year in a medical environment

Preferred:

• Certification through JCAHPO
• Bi-lingual - English/ Spanish (fluent)

• Superior interpersonal and communications skills
• Ability to perform manifest refraction is required
• Ability to perform tonometry is required
• Ability to effectively multitask
• Attentive to detail and accuracy
