• Initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures, maintains patient records, and selects, assembles, checks, and operates respiratory equipment.
• Responds to various emergency codes, performing duties such as maintaining the airway, intubation, chest compressions, and ventilator setup.
• Determines requirements for treatment, including type, method, duration of therapy, precautions, and medication dosages compatible with providers’ orders. Performs diagnostic testing per facility needs.
• Monitors patients’ physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes, consulting with providers if adverse reactions occur.
• Educates patients and their families about their conditions and teaches disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment.

• Associate (Required)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
• Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
