Medical Front Desk: The Office of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology of Tampa Bay, a division of Florida Pediatric Associates is seeking a Medical Front Desk Specialist to join their team. The Medical Front Desk Specialist is responsible for a number of administrative duties as well as providing exceptional customer service and communication to patients and family members.

Education and Training:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- OSHA, HIPAA, Compliance Training
Experience:
- 1+ years’ experience working as a Medical Front Desk Specialist
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products
- Experience with practice management, patient registration and scheduling systems
- Bilingual a plus (Spanish)
Principal Duties And Responsibilities (Specific):
- Welcoming patients, families and visitors in a friendly, courteous and caring manner.
- Performs administrative and general office functions including, but not limited to, copying, filing, and faxing and data entry.
- Answer telephone calls, provides information, screens and routes telephone calls to the appropriate person or department.
- Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, diagnostic tests, and other health related appointments.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Obtain patient authorizations as needed.
- Responsible for the Patient Check In process to include:
- Obtaining, or verifying and updating patient demographic information
- Insurance information in the PM system
- Obtain patient consent for treatment
- Responsible for Patient Check Out process to include:
- Collect patient payments, including, copayments, deductibles, coinsurance and any outstanding patient due balance amounts.
- Provide patient receipts
- End of the day reconciliation process, may be responsible for balancing and reporting daily receipts
- Documents in PM System.
- Updates patient demographics, including: contact information, benefits changes and practice policy notices.
- May be responsible for chart prep of scheduled appointments.
- Utilizes interpersonal skills to optimize medical practice satisfaction rate by effectively and carefully communicating with patients and providers.
- Understand and follow applicable Federal and Florida State laws and regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles related to patient HIPAA Privacy and Security.
