• Administer safe and competent respiratory care as ordered per physician, monitor mechanical ventilation, administer medications, perform patient assessment, interpret hemodynamic monitoring and blood work results, and provide teaching and training.

• Deliver Respiratory Care procedures in all hospital areas per Kindred policies, procedures and protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation and charge capture of all Respiratory Care procedures; develop and maintain respiratory care elements of the patient plan of care.
• Verify and initiate all physician orders for Respiratory Care.
• Demonstrate competency and knowledge of all respiratory care instruments and equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting, problem resolution, and proper disinfection/sterilization.
• Initiate, monitor and maintain oxygen and aerosol delivery devices and both non‑invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation devices.
• Perform airway management including oral/nasal airway placement, bag/mask ventilation, intubation and assistance, emergent and scheduled tracheostomy tube changes, safe suction techniques, and use of artificial airways.
• Perform CPR when required.
• Perform tracheostomy, endotracheal tube, and oral care.
• Implement one‑way speaking valve trials per physician order.
• Assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures.
• Complete decannulation risk assessments with appropriate documentation and interventions.
• Perform and document Spontaneous Breathing Trial (SBT) assessments and initiate weaning per protocol.
• Participate in the multidisciplinary early patient mobility program.
• Perform pulse oximetry and CO₂ monitoring, arterial blood gas sampling and analysis, and maintain ABG analyzer quality control.
• Document and provide ongoing patient and family teaching/education.
• Provide accurate handoff reports and participate in department/hospital in‑services, meetings, and patient care rounds.
• Notify supervisor of changes in workload and patient acuity and provide timely updates to the healthcare team with recommendations for therapy modifications.
• Assist in orientation, training, and precepting new employees and students.

• Work under stress and respond quickly in emergency situations.
• Use appropriate interpersonal communication skills with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
• Apply principles of lifespan growth and development for adult and geriatric patient care.
• Work cooperatively as a team member.
• Maintain good and regular attendance.
• Read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Travel: 0%.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Respiratory Therapy education required for credentialing by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

• Current respiratory therapy license from the appropriate state licensing body.
• Current Certified credential in compliance with the National Board for Respiratory Care Credential Maintenance Program (CMP).
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

• One year of experience preferred.
