Overview
Under the supervision of a physician, the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at Florida Orthopaedic Institute will assess, plan, and provide direct patient care in both clinical and surgical settings for a high-volume orthopaedics and sports medicine practice. This position supports Dr. Seung Jin Yi, a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on sports medicine and general orthopaedics, treating a balanced mix of hip, knee, and shoulder conditions.
This role is designed for an experienced PA who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and transitioning into a high level of clinical independence after onboarding. The PA will be primarily clinic-based, managing patient flow, performing in-office procedures and injections, and providing continuity of care, with limited operating room responsibilities as needed.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current Florida licensure as a Physician Assistant
- Current NCCPA certification
- Minimum of 3–5 years of orthopaedic experience required (Sports medicine experience strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage patients independently in a busy clinic setting
- Experience with joint injections and in-office procedures is preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and patient communication skills
- BLS required (ACLS preferred)
- Assist the supervising physician in office, hospital, and surgical settings, including pre-operative, intra-operative (first assist), and post-operative care
- Conduct comprehensive patient histories, physical examinations, and orthopaedic evaluations for sports medicine and general orthopaedic conditions
- Manage clinic-based patient care following training, including new patient visits, follow-ups, and post-operative appointments with increasing autonomy
- Perform in-office procedures and injections in alignment with practice standards and clinical protocols
- Participate in hospital rounds, inpatient consultations, and discharge planning as required
- Provide first assist support in surgery as needed, including sports medicine and general orthopaedic cases
- Write and manage pre-operative, post-operative, and discharge orders for review and countersignature by the supervising physician
- Perform hospital and emergency department consultations when applicable
- Apply and remove casts, splints, braces, and other orthopaedic devices
- Accurately document all patient encounters, treatment plans, and procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, rehabilitation protocols, and post-operative care
- Communicate promptly with the supervising physician regarding unexpected findings, complications, or patient care concerns
- Collaborate closely with clinical and administrative staff to maintain efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care
- Adhere to FOI standards related to patient safety, infection control, professionalism, and teamwork
- Participate in continuing education, in-service training, and professional development activities
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
