Position

Summary

As an Inventory Specialist, you will be an example for and support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Inventory Specialists assist in ensuring that pharmacy operations run smoothly; patients' prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately; and that the team is providing caring service that exceeds patient expectations, both as a contributor and as a participant‑leader.

More specifically, Inventory Specialists build upon the skills and responsibilities of the Pharmacy Technician, coordinating and monitoring inventory management activities, while leading with example and coaching the team to execute against best practices. Inventory Specialists operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication. Throughout their shifts and in all customer and colleague interactions, they demonstrate CVS Health's Heart At Work  behaviors, Helping With Heart Actions, and contribute to a safe and inclusive culture where all people feel valued and empowered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Living our purpose of "Bringing our Heart to Every Moment of Your Health" by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Following WeCARE workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (i.e., production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Establishing ownership of inventory management activities and ensuring the pharmacy team maintains the highest level of inventory standards; enables a consistent approach to inventory management and critical functions to maintain target inventory levels and mitigate inventory loss.
  • Monitors outcomes of Inventory Excellence Reporting and provides clear communication around the completion of inventory activities, as permitted by law, and as directed by the pharmacy leadership team.
  • Oversees pharmacy ordering and coaches the pharmacy team to the highest standards of day‑to‑day inventory management practices, including accurately putting away medication deliveries, preparing for and participating in annual physical inventories, and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, fridge organization, waiting bin inventories, etc.
  • Contributes to positive patient experiences by helping with heart: creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; keeping patients healthy by offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; and demonstrating compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
