Operational Planning Support Analyst

Overview

Focus:
Support operational planning with a WMD/CWMD mission emphasis (Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction and WMD-Terrorism).

You will help a planning team turn guidance into clear, usable products. If you enjoy organizing complex inputs, writing clean briefs, and keeping actions moving, you will fit right in.

This role supports a high-visibility mission set and works closely with planning stakeholders across a joint environment.

Tampa, FL (Mac Dill AFB)

• Support structured planning efforts, including problem framing, mission analysis, and course of action development.
• Build and refine planning products such as slide decks, read-aheads, action memos, meeting notes, and staff packages.
• Track tasks and actions, keep stakeholders aligned, and follow items through to completion.
• Support WMD/CWMD-related working groups and planning sessions, capturing decisions and next steps.
• Assist with coordination across partner organizations when needed.
• Support document and records tasks tied to planning products, including FOIA/MDR coordination support when required.

• Active TS/SCI clearance required (must be current and able to be verified).
• The position shall be staffed by an individual who is:
  • a graduate of the Joint Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Planning Course (JCPC), CWMD Senior Staff Planners course, or equivalent program;
  • has at least 5 years of WMD-related planning experience; and
  • has a minimum of 3 years of experience at the Geographic or Functional Combatant Command Headquarters.
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to turn rough inputs into clear, decision-ready products.
• Strong organization skills, including task tracking and working multiple priorities at once.
• Comfort working with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

• Experience in Special Operations activities and Counter terrorism (CT) is strongly preferred.
• Exposure to WMD, CWMD, WMD-T, CBRN, counter proliferation, deterrence planning, or crisis planning.
• Familiarity with joint planning concepts and planning products (JP 5-0/JOPP familiarity is a plus).
• Experience supporting coordination across Joint Staff, OSD, other Combatant Commands, and interagency partners.
