This is a professional position conducting confidential investigations of alleged abuse, neglect, self‑neglect and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults.

• Conduct investigations regarding allegations of abuse, neglect, self‑neglect and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults.
• Serve as a mentor to unit adult protective investigators, providing shadowing prior to preservice training, orientation to community and state agency partners, and acting as the new API’s mentor and contact during probationary period.
• Refer vulnerable adults to appropriate service providers as determined by the investigation.
• Attend scheduled in‑service and/or pre‑service training as required, and participate in conferences, staffings and meetings as required.
• Serve as the Acting Supervisor when the supervisor is unavailable: review new intakes from the Florida Abuse Hotline; assign investigations; complete thorough review of submitted safety assessments, 30‑day reviews and closures; keep APS region program office informed of potential issues.
• Demonstrate skills in emergency, tactical or customer/public complaint interactions utilizing communication technology, basic computer and typing skills, interviewing and observation techniques, knowledge of family dynamics, internet research, service need assessment, professional report writing, fact‑finding interviews, understanding relevant laws, and synthesizing evidentiary materials; plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; communicate effectively; maintain a calm, professional demeanor under various calls; exhibit independent judgment and initiative;
  
  possess typing and time‑management skills.
