A growing and well-established organization is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Accounts Payable Manager to oversee and continuously improve its accounts payable operations. This is a confidential search for a key role within the finance organization and is ideal for an AP professional ready to step into a true people-leadership and process-ownership position.
About the Role
The Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end AP function, ensuring timely and accurate processing, maintaining strong internal controls, and partnering cross-functionally to support the broader finance team. This role suits someone with 3–4 years of progressive AP experience who is ready to grow, lead, and make an impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and reconciliations
- Lead, coach, and develop a small AP team; provide hands-on guidance and performance feedback
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and audit requirements
- Review and approve invoices, payment runs, and vendor setups
- Resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies in a professional and timely manner
- Partner with Purchasing, Operations, and Finance to improve communication and workflows
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency gains
- Assist with month-end close activities related to AP, including accruals and reporting
- Support internal and external audits as needed
Qualifications
- 3–4 years of accounts payable experience, with at least some exposure to supervising or leading others (formal or informal)
- Solid understanding of AP best practices, internal controls, and accounting fundamentals
- Experience working in a mid-sized or growing organization preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working with ERP or accounting systems (experience with modern AP tools a plus)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard business tools
- Professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Why This Opportunity
- Step into a manager-level role earlier in your career
- Opportunity to own and shape AP processes, not just maintain them
- Exposure to leadership, audits, and cross-functional finance initiatives
- Supportive environment focused on growth, learning, and continuous improvement
- Competitive compensation and benefits package
