ABI Document Support Services is looking for an Accounting Manager to join the team! This person will work out of the Tampa, FL office location Monday – Friday standard business hours.
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The role supervises the unit accounting staff and ensures all work is properly allocated and completed accurately and on time. Responsibilities include meeting tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities such as general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year‑end audit preparation and support of budget and forecast activities.
ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Prepare and/or review journal entries including recurring entries and allocations, account reconciliations and analysis.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year‑end close.
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Support unit budget and forecasting activities.
- Prepare audit backup for regional requirements and SOX testing.
- Ensure records systems are maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards.
- Prepare financial reports, special analyses, and information reports.
- Collaborate with other unit finance managers and/or appropriate staff to ensure all inter‑company transactions are recorded properly.
- When required, resolve billing/payable disputes with physicians or vendors in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non‑routine reporting transactions.
- Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year, monitor progress, and advise on professional development.
- Respond to inquiries from the Regional Vice President of Finance, Corporate Controller, and/or other members of finance regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
- Carry out all responsibilities in accordance with the company’s standards, policies, and all applicable employment laws.
- Manage and monitor workflow, providing support, training, and techniques to assist staff in achieving department daily/weekly/monthly goals and standards.
- Encourage positive morale, maintain harmony among staff, and resolve grievances when necessary.
- Oversee the completion and approval of employee timecards and coordinate overtime needs with management and staff as needed.
- Actively participate in the department’s staffing requirements, including hiring, onboarding, and terminating employees.
- Create and implement plans to meet department goals and metrics based on workload and client needs.
- Evaluate staff needs and performance, provide periodic feedback, and report any performance concerns and growth opportunities to management.
- A minimum of a Bachelor Degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5+ years experience in financial statement preparation, reporting, budgeting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and account reconciliation.
- Experience supervising two or more staff members for a minimum of three years required.
- Must be proficient in multiple software programs, including, but not limited to, Great Plains, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and the Internet.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Must demonstrate team behavior and promote a team‑oriented environment.
