Assistant Controller

Job Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our client in the Tampa area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the month‑end close process, internal accounting procedures and controls, and support strategic planning. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of financial reporting and compliance regulations.

• Manage a team of 5+ employees within the accounting department.
• Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes.
• Handle basic accounting processes and procedures.
• Design, implement, and maintain internal financial controls.
• Ability to decipher large amounts of transactional data.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, or other relevant accounting standards.
• Handle multi‑state sales and use tax filings, ERP tax system maintenance, and potential tax software implementation.
• Support audits, compliance reporting, and process improvements while collaborating cross‑functionally with branch and corporate teams.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in corporate accounting with supervisory experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros).
• Experience with software such as Great Plains, Quick Books, or similar.
• Strong fundamental and hands‑on capability.
• Ability to communicate across multiple departments both verbally and written.
• Detail‑oriented with a strong ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of automation and system upgrades or implementations (e.g., ERP systems).

• 5 days onsite in Tampa, FL

Determining compensation for this role (and other roles) depends upon a wide array of factors, including skill sets, experience, and location. Salary range is disclosed as required by law. Eligible for discretionary bonuses, medical, dental, vision benefits, and the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
