Handling multi-state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations takes more than just a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. As a Sales and Use Tax Manager, assigned to EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you’ll bring your knowledge to a wide range of recovery projects for clients across multiple industries.
OpportunityOur Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review COE is a national team that leads large multi-state tax recovery projects for EY’s largest clients. It’s here you’ll find everything you need to continue developing as a multi-state, sales and use tax practitioner.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you’ll spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities, and tasks, providing up-to-the-minute tax advice you can rely on. You’ll work in a highly collaborative culture, listening to and sharing information with colleagues.
Skills and Attributes for Success- Researching our clients’ business operations and building long‑lasting relationships with them
- Identifying applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions
- Identifying over payment opportunities or risks and communicating these to our clients
- Monitoring current tax law changes, to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor
- Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches for tax recoveries
- Preparing and defending tax refund claims
- Participating in a motivated team of professionals
- Managing a team, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach full potential
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
- Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools
- Experience managing budgets, people and projects
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
- Strong influencing skills and the confidence to question existing processes
- Willingness to travel as needed and working in a balanced hybrid environment
- Achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or membership in a state bar

What We Offer You- A comprehensive compensation and benefits package, with a base salary range of $105,100 to $192,600 for this role across the US. Individual salaries are determined by education, experience, skills, and geography.
