Our client is seeking a Controller to lead day‑to‑day accounting operations and ensure financials are accurate, organized, and actionable. This is a hands‑on position suited for someone who enjoys improving processes, building systems, and collaborating closely with leadership to support a growing real estate and hospitality platform. You’ll play a key role in developing scalable accounting infrastructure as the business expands from four assets to a larger, diversified portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, A/R, A/P, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Maintain accurate records across multiple entities and property‑level operations
- Handle cash management, reconciliations, and forecasting
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Coordinate with external accountants and auditors on annual filings and tax returns
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation
- Track investment performance and property‑level results
- Identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience in income‑producing real estate, property management, REITs, or hospitality
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP) and attention to detail
- Tech‑savvy and comfortable improving systems and reporting processes
- Proficiency in Net Suite or similar accounting platforms
- Experience managing multiple entities and consolidations
- Excellent communicator who takes ownership and works well independently
- Bonus: experience implementing new systems or software
- Integrity‑focused: embraces fiduciary responsibility and transparent reporting
- Hands‑on: detail‑oriented but able to see the big picture
- Collaborative: works closely with operations and leadership
- Reliable: keeps books clean and processes consistent
- Proactive: identifies issues early and builds practical solutions
- Help professionalize and scale accounting as the platform grows
- Gain exposure to lender reporting, investor communications, and capital events
- Lead process automation and reporting improvements
- Grow into an Assistant Controller or Director of Finance role
- Participate in strategic discussions around expansion and capital markets
