Plant Controller

The Plant Controller directs the financial management, business planning and accounting activities of a plant, supervising payroll, payables, receivables, management and financial reporting, and contributes to short- and long-term plans and forecasts based on business goals.

• Direct the accounting and financial affairs of the plant and provide guidance for management decisions, ensuring financial statement accuracy, timely transaction processing, proper payments, internal control compliance, safeguarding PCA assets, and adherence to credit policies and collections.
• Ensure plant compliance with federal, state, and local laws and that PCA’s Key and Significant Controls are in place and operating.
• Conduct month/year-end closings and ensure proper processing of financial transactions.
• Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial reports and forecasts; maintain accounts and document balances with timely reconciliations.
• Prepare internal reports and update management decision-making reports; analyze and report variances; make recommendations to improve plant results.
• Review financial position and key control issues with plant management on a quarterly basis.
• Work with internal audit on control-based work; ensure audit findings and AFR issues are corrected on a quarterly basis.
• Manage profit forecasting, annual budgeting, and month-end closing processes; provide financial analysis and scenario planning.
• Manage capital expenditure processes, including project analysis and ensuring that project financials are prepared prior to Board submittal; maintain capital expenditure tracking for all projects.
• Provide guidance, training, and operating documentation to accounting staff and others engaging in accounting activities.
• Conduct succession planning activities within the plant and share information to improve service delivery to customers.

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance.
• 8+ years’ experience in the accounting function with solid understanding of major accounting areas.
• 5+ years in a manufacturing setting with 1–2 years as Plant Accountant or similar, with understanding of plant operations.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, standard financial procedures; solid analytical and mathematical skills.
• Working knowledge of general ledger systems and inventory management; ability to analyze issues and communicate findings effectively.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to lead and communicate with management; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and accounting software; ability to travel and work in the U.S.

• Masters in finance or accounting.
• CPA designation.
• 2+ years of supervisory management experience including hiring, coaching, performance development, and corrective action.

• Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and build relationships with internal and external customers.
• Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and computer skills.
• Ability to make sound decisions through creative problem-solving and to work with ambiguity and change.

• Starting salary range for position: $87,000 – $100,000
• Bonus:
  Annual – based on individual contribution and company performance
• Paid vacation:
  Three weeks per calendar year; pro-rata vacation during the initial year based on start date
