State and Local Tax Manager, Lead Tax Services
Crowe is seeking a State and Local Tax (SALT) Manager to join our Lead Tax Services team. This role provides both consulting and compliance services and involves mentoring staff while contributing to client service and growth of Crowe’s SALT practice.
Job DescriptionCrowe’s State and Local Tax (SALT) team delivers value by helping clients effectively navigate and manage their state and local income and franchise tax obligations. In this role, you will provide both consulting and compliance services, while also contributing to the development and mentorship of staff. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting our clients, strengthening our team, and advancing Crowe’s commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required;
Master’s in Taxation or JD/LLM a plus - CPA or JD required
- 5+ years of experience in public accounting
- Strong state tax background, including experience with consolidated C corporations, partnerships, and S corporations
- Experience with state and local income tax compliance and consulting, including apportionment, state modifications, nexus considerations, unitary/combined reporting, and state-level tax planning
- Familiarity with state-level implications of mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and management skills, with proven experience leading teams and engagements
- Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and communicate complex state tax issues clearly and effectively
- Lead tax engagements for state and local tax compliance and consulting projects
- Provide expert guidance on apportionment, nexus, unitary/combined reporting, and state tax planning
- Mentor and develop junior staff within the SALT practice
- Collaborate with clients to deliver an exceptional client experience and drive value
Our wage range for this role is $84,500.00 - $ per year, taking into account various factors such as experience and location. A geographic differential may apply depending on the location.
