Job Overview
This is an onsite position as part of our Internship Program. We are seeking a motivated Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer. This internship offers hands‑on experience in process optimization, production planning, and operational efficiency within a high‑tech defense environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers and program managers to support initiatives that enhance manufacturing workflows, reduce cycle times, and improve resource utilization.
EssentialFunctions
- Assist with analyzing and improving production and assembly processes for navigation and autonomy systems.
- Assist in developing Lean Manufacturing initiatives to optimize efficiency.
- Collect and interpret data to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions.
- Support capacity planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for mission‑critical projects.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (engineering, supply chain, quality assurance) to implement process improvements.
- Assist with preparing reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with Lean principles, process mapping, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools; experience with CAD or simulation software is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Results‑oriented and end‑goal focused.
- Ability to balance many priorities.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Valid academic excellence (3.0 GPA and higher).
- No prior experience necessary.
- Frequently required to sit and reach to use computers and other office equipment.
- Frequently required repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
