Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection)

Position OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for commercial and institutional projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and experience managing projects from design through construction administration.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in building systems design and coordination with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Develop construction documents, including detailed plans and specifications
- Manage and mentor junior engineering staff
- Coordinate directly with clients regarding project requirements and timelines
- Interface with regulatory agencies to understand permitting requirements and submit documentation for approval
- Perform construction administration tasks, including:
- Attending and documenting project meetings
- Conducting site visits
- Reviewing shop drawings
- Assisting with change orders and project closeout documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 6–20 years of experience in mechanical building systems design
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
- Proficiency in Revit
- Strong knowledge of construction documentation and permitting processes
