About the Role:As a Project Surveyor
, you are responsible for the planning, execution, and production of various types of land survey drawings and map substitutes from inception to completion with minimal supervision and direction.
- Plans and ensures the execution of land surveys and other survey-related documents; signs and seals surveys
- Interprets survey field notes to prepare certified boundary surveys, topographic surveys, right-of-way control surveys, and other survey-related documents
- Process and verify the accuracy and sufficiency of collected data
- Provide everyday supervision of the assigned survey field crew on quality and survey methodology, and gather all necessary information needed to meet the survey requirements
- Assist the VP of Surveying with business development, client management, and the preparation of proposals
- Prepares and maintains project progress and status reports, letters, files, and other documentation related to projects
- Analyzes and interprets technical information and/or property descriptions for surveying or related operations
- Provides land boundary and surveying-related expert testimony in court cases
- Utilize Civil3D, Trimble Business Center, and other industry-related software as needed to complete projects
- Professional Surveyor and Mapper license. (required)
- Minimum of four years of experience of all aspects of surveying and mapping. (required)
- BS degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Geomatics, or equivalent work experience in survey or heavy civil environment (preferred)
- A valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to our company insurance provider is a condition of initial and continued employment (required)
- Ability to work in a safe manner and obey safety regulations at all times
- Proficient with latest version of Civil3D and other surveying and mapping software
- Proficient in running and adjusting various survey instruments including GPS equipment, levels, and robotic total stations with electronic data capabilities
- Proficient in technical math, including Geometry and Trigonometry
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Earth, Trimble business center, GIS and GPS
- Extensive knowledge of survey and mapping principles, practices, standards, procedures and project management
- Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of photogrammetric mapping, LiDAR and other remote sensing
- Must be highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet fixed deadlines on a timely basis and have the ability to work both as an individual contributor and within a team environment
- Ability to travel as needed
- Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
