Job Description
Design the Future of Automotive Service Facilities
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Design Specialist to lead the layout and equipment design for Service Departments, Parts Departments, and Service Drives within automotive facilities. This role plays a critical part in new builds, expansions, and remodel projects by translating client vision into fully coordinated, functional construction-ready plans.
You will collaborate closely with sales representatives, equipment vendors, architects, engineers, and general contractors to ensure all equipment layouts and MEP requirements are accurately designed, documented, and integrated into overall building plans.
This position is also instrumental in developing and maintaining Revit/BIM families to support accurate modeling and material take-offs.
Key Responsibilities:
Project & Equipment Design
- Lead equipment scope meetings with Sales to determine client needs and operational goals.
- Develop complete equipment layouts in AutoCAD based on client and sales input.
- Conduct in-person and virtual meetings with sales reps and clients to refine designs.
- Create detailed, dimensioned installation plans for construction handoff.
BIM & Technical Documentation
- Develop and maintain Revit/BIM families to support material take-offs and standardized modeling.
- Incorporate MEP requirements into design documents.
- Coordinate closely with architects and engineers to integrate equipment layouts into architectural and engineering floor plans.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Sales to ensure design aligns with client expectations.
- Communicate equipment requirements clearly to architects, engineers, and GCs.
- Participate in project handoff meetings with Construction and Project Management teams.
- Represent company values and clearly communicate who we are and what we do in all client interactions.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required)
- Experience with Revit and BIM modeling (required)
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem‑solving ability and conflict navigation skills
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, deadline‑driven environment
