Position: Wastewater Utilities Plant Operator Licensed (Tier 2-Tier 4) - Various Locations

Job Overview

Utilities Plant Operator performs certified and skilled work or directs and oversees the performance of certified and skilled work in the operation of Advanced Water Reclamation, Potable Water supply, distribution systems, and solids management to provide high quality treatment of water and wastewater in compliance with Florida Administrative Codes and local rules and regulations.

Salary

$45,281 - $89,564

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is an experienced Licensed Florida Wastewater Treatment Plant operator. The candidate would possess general knowledge of Operating principles and practices applicable to Wastewater Treatment Facilities. The candidate would possess knowledge of written, oral, computer communication, and analytical skills. The candidate would have knowledge of Chemistry related to the operation of Wastewater Treatment Facilities. They would have the ability to communicate effectively with others, maintain detailed operation records and logs, and safely work with various chemicals.

The candidate would possess the ability to perform other operations and maintenance procedures and work in confined spaces. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter and highly motivated. The candidate would possess the willingness to respond to emergency situations to provide for public health and safety. The candidate must be able to work overtime, rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.

The ideal candidate would possess the ability to use a computer and related software such as SCADA, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. The candidate must possess a high school diploma or a GED Certificate and possess a valid driver’s license.

    – This tier serves as a trainee level. Successful completion of the training program requires obtaining a Water or Wastewater Plant Operator “C” Certificate of License.
  • Tier 2 (C Certificate) – Possession of a valid State of Florida Water or Wastewater Plant Operator "C" Certificate of License.
  • Tier 3 (B Certificate) – Possession of a valid State of Florida Water or Wastewater Plant Operator "B" Certificate of License.
  • Tier 4 (A Certificate) – Possession of a valid State of Florida Water or Wastewater Plant Operator "A" Certificate of License.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responds to emergency situations such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and other natural and/or unnatural crisis to provide for public health and safety.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate, detailed operations reports and maintenance records.
  • Collects, organizes and evaluates water/wastewater operational data, and develop logical conclusions for operational adjustments.
  • Oversees and/or performs inspections of facility equipment and machinery to determine that all systems are operating properly.
  • Oversees and/or performs routine and non-routine adjustments to controls in conformance with operating instructions, Florida Administrative Code, and prescribed standards.
  • Notifies manager and/or other appropriate staff of needs for non-routine adjustments and/or malfunctioning of equipment.
