Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for heavy civil roadway projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Ensure estimates are accurate, timely, and aligned with project specifications.
- Analyze project plans, drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents to determine the scope of work and develop an understanding of project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to prepare comprehensive bids and proposals for various roadway construction projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and codes.
- Perform quantity takeoffs from project plans, including roadways, bridges, grading, utilities, and other infrastructure components.
- Solicit quotes from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors, and assess their pricing and capabilities. Maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials.
- Assist in the development of project budgets and provide ongoing cost analysis and forecasting throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor actual costs against estimates and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Identify potential risks and challenges within the project scope and budget and provide recommendations for mitigating these risks.
- Maintain clear, organized records of all cost estimates, proposals, bid documents, and project changes. Provide regular status reports to project managers and senior management.
- Work closely with internal teams (engineering, design, project management) and external stakeholders (clients, subcontractors, vendors) to ensure all project requirements are understood and met.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum of (3) years of experience in the heavy civil construction industry, with a focus on roadway and infrastructure projects.
- Minimum (1) year field experience on heavy civil construction infrastructure projects
- In-depth understanding of civil roadway construction processes. Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other office software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
