Storm Duty RequirementsTampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co‑op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.
PositionSummary / Details
The Bayside co‑op engineering student is a position designed to teach the candidate the basics of combined cycle power plant operations while converting this knowledge into practical help with updating plant engineering documents and troubleshooting equipment.
AccountabilitiesAs a successful candidate for our Co/Op Position, you would:
- Support plant equipment owners with troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Learn the basics of combined cycle power plant operation (Brayton and Rankine cycle).
- Perform equipment walk‑downs and notify plant equipment owners of plant issues.
- Assist with Management of Change updates to system drawings and documentation.
- Perform flow studies on water systems using a doppler flow meter.
- Walk down system and locate valves to confirm proper valve tagging. Identify deficiencies and have new valve tags printed and installed.
- Provide support in performing critical spares analysis on key plant systems.

Preferred AvailabilityFull‑time (40 hours) or Part‑Time (30–40 hours)
Working Conditions- Willing and able to work at heights on raised walkways, etc. and work in industrial environments.
- Willing and able to work in dusty, hot and noisy environments.
The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post‑secondary educational program in a related discipline.
Co‑Op Requirements- To qualify as a co‑op student, enrollment in the university’s co‑op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co‑op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
