Storm Duty RequirementsTampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures.
Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.

The Lighting Field Engineering Technician (“LFET”) supports Tampa Electric Company’s (“TEC”) lighting and distribution system design, construction, and maintenance projects. Utilizing standard company specifications and materials, LFET’s design the most electrically efficient and cost-effective outdoor lighting systems for new and existing residential and commercial customers. These designs are not limited to lighting, as they typically will also include the expansion, replacement, relocation, and maintenance of existing distribution systems required to serve the outdoor lighting system.
The LFET serves as the main point of contact to customers, governmental agencies, TEC departments and contractors, while overseeing construction and verifying that customer requirements are met throughout the project. The LFET processes work requests in TEC’s work management system (“Work Pro”), determines customer requirements, completes designs in TEC’s designing program (“Visual”) and distribution map maintenance in TEC’s geographical interface system (“GIS”), calculates estimates (“Tool Kit”) and wind loads (“Pole Foreman”), obtains necessary work permits and coordinates activities with TEC departments and contractors to ensure in the successful scheduling and completion of projects.
