At HDR, we specialize in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services. We create an unshakable foundation for progress through multidisciplinary teams that include scientists, economists, builders, analysts and artists. HDR is proud to be an equal‑opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer.

We invite you to join our Florida Water Business Group as a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager. This role is for a proven leader and technically exceptional individual in the field of water and wastewater.

Responsibilities
  • As a Water/Wastewater Project Manager, you will scope, plan, manage, direct and monitor all aspects of medium‑to‑large drinking water and wastewater projects and contracts with high degrees of technical complexity. You will interface with clients, lead and supervise teams of engineers and CAD professionals, and develop planning documents (e.g., master plans), preliminary engineering reports, detailed designs with plans and specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Serving as the trust client‑facing project manager for a variety of technical delivery projects.
  • Developing project design criteria, schematics and methods.
  • Preparing preliminary design, basis of design reports, routing and alignment studies, and other engineering reports.
  • Developing and writing engineering specifications and front‑end documents.
  • Overseeing the production of design drawings.
  • Developing and executing QA/QC and risk management plans for each project.
  • Working directly with the owner to ensure that the project exceeds the owner's expectations.
  • Lead and/or support client management and business development activities, including pursuit planning, proposals, interviews, and client strategy.
  • If needed, you may perform process‑related or detailed design work yourself; a strong technical background is essential.
  • Beyond technical delivery, you will collaborate with leadership, other project managers and technical staff across Florida to maintain HDR’s commitment to excellent technical delivery. This includes developing a technical mentorship program, reviewing existing detailed design standards, mentoring staff, engaging in the group’s quality control and compliance program, leading abstract development for local conferences, and reviewing scopes of work and associated fees.
  • Support and potentially lead client management activities (e.g., internal client management calls, client meetings) and participate in overall strategy discussions for successfully marketing with our clients.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng).
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project.
  • Preference given to local candidates.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project management experience.
  • Ability to interact with various design teams, with excellent organizational, project management, and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
  • Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture.
