Responsibilities
- Schedule, coordinate, and ensure vessel repair & maintenance completed
- Perform inspections of vessels for repair & maintenance standards and procedures
- Manage all ABS dates for vessels and ensure surveys are completed on time
- Assist vessel crews in preparation for Class audits, surveys and other regulatory hull and machinery inspections. Attend as needed, on case-by-case basis
- Work with operations and compliance staff to assist in keeping tugs compliant with all regulatory agencies including: USCG, ABS, Bureau Veritas, AWO, OCIMF SIRE
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance performed as directed by TSMS, including the use of company software program
- Manage oil sample program
- Compile and prioritize worklists for each vessel for both routine and major maintenance
- Oversee the completion of SINEX maintenance tracking program
- Track costs of repair and keep within budget
- Perform emergency repairs on vessels as required
- Perform special assignments and tasks as assigned
- On call as required for vessel engineering issues
- Manage and work with Port Engineers to ensure all engineering tasks completed
- Proven experience in vessel maintenance and repair, preferably with tugboats and towing vessels.
- Strong knowledge of marine engineering systems, vessel maintenance procedures, and onboard equipment.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards, including USCG, ABS, Bureau Veritas, AWO, and OCIMF SIRE.
- Ability to perform hands-on repairs and troubleshoot marine machinery under challenging and varied conditions.
- Experience using vessel maintenance tracking systems (e.g., SINEX) and managing maintenance budgets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with vessel crews, port engineers, and office teams.
- Capable of interpreting and executing complex technical instructions, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
- Flexibility to be on-call for emergency vessel engineering issues and special assignments.
