Engineering Consulting Services (ECS) is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring that all required tasks on a project from proposal to final invoice payment are completed either by themselves or by subordinates. The Senior Project Manager is primarily responsible for the completion and overall success of the project and will serve as the main point of contact for the client on their projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team
  • Attend project meetings and provide solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary
  • Market our services, maintain and further develop the client database
  • Strong ability to manage project budgets, prepare and review change orders and invoices, oversee project budgets of others as assigned, and assist with collection efforts
  • Schedule, train, and oversee subordinate staff members
  • Prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
  • Oversee environmental projects, assist junior staff with issue resolution and field staff training, and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Oversee the preparation and review of proposals and change orders
  • Prepare environmental reports, perform analysis and provide recommendations; review reports from junior staff
  • Perform peer/senior review of deliverables prior to submission for Principal review
  • Host or attend project discussions with clients, follow up on reports to determine if there are questions
  • Collaborate with other managers to make staffing decisions
  • Manage asbestos, lead‑based paint, mold and indoor air quality assessments
  • Review daily reports produced by field staff, perform routine site visits to ensure appropriate quality and progress, and mentor junior staff as needed; communicate project completion milestones with clients and advise on significant directional changes
  • Direct site activities and maintain continuous communication with subordinate field staff and senior managers on several projects concurrently
  • Solid understanding of sample collection, preparation, preservation and laboratory submission regulations and guidelines
  • Independently prepare reports for Principal review; review reports completed by subordinates prior to Principal review; lead client meetings or calls to present/discuss report findings and conclusions
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations and guidelines and their implications on findings and conclusions in studies
  • Communicate with junior staff to direct field work performed by subcontractors and other ECS technicians; likely require managing and/or performing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or another engineering degree applicable to Environmental Consulting, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or another degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred
Skills And Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental principles and applications
  • Extensive knowledge of permitting processes, environmental regulations, and environmental test methods
  • Extensive ability to manage and develop new clients; seek out opportunities to develop relationships with clients
  • Review and provide feedback on field and laboratory testing by others; perform training and/or corrective action as necessary
  • Excellent ability to manage and develop new clients
  • Experience delegating/assigning projects and tasks to other staff while also managing other projects independently
