The Plant Operator II performs demand and scheduled preventive maintenance of the facility equipment, primarily including mechanical, utilities, and associated systems in accordance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory agency codes. Specific duties include maintaining facilities and equipment in a hospital or clinic environment.

• Demonstrates technical knowledge depth for mechanical, utilities, and associated systems.
• Performs general maintenance repairs and other duties as assigned, referencing the Unit Specific Competency Check List.
• Responds to emergency situations, including disaster response, power and utility loss, floods, and other incidents to limit effect on the facility.
• Ensures proper use of personal protective equipment, including Arc Flash safety.
• Demonstrates proficiency in basic power and hand tool skills.
• Uses power tools safely and maintains them appropriately.
• Opens and operates maintenance equipment, hand–held power tools, building automation computers, and computerized maintenance management systems, working effectively with others.
• Provides complete documentation, including work order records.
• Performs basic infection prevention procedures.
• Identifies changes needed on all prints and notifies the supervisor when changes are made.
• Works from blueprints, estimates projects, and creates a bill of materials.
• Demonstrates knowledge required for a Third‑Grade Stationary Engineer’s license.
• Assists with, oversees, and/or inspects repairs or modifications performed by contractors.
• Manages inventory following departmental inventory control parameters.
• Demonstrates planning, coordination, estimating, and scheduling skills.
• Uses troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Detects maintenance equipment diagnostics to facilitate troubleshooting and repair processes.
• Maintains mechanical equipment and procedure documentation manuals.
• Performs other duties as needed to meet hospital expectations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of components and functionality of condensate pumps.
• Identifies different mechanical materials and their applications.

• High School Diploma.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.
• Eight (8) years of experience as a Chiller/Boiler Service Technician (or related).
• Ability to work various shifts and/or weekends as needed.
• Ability to travel between Moffitt Cancer Center facilities.
• Evidence of a good driving record, per Moffitt policy.

• Three (3) years of hospital maintenance experience.
• One (1) year of high‑rise mechanical and/or utilities systems experience.
• Stationary Engineer’s License.
