Job Overview
Title: Engineer, Distribution Assets, Progression
Company: Tampa Electric Company
Location: Energy Control Center (Florida – Tampa)
Shift: 8 Hour × 5 Days
- Develop and implement the distribution portion of the Electric Delivery Asset Management Plan (design/equipment specification review; health, criticality, risk assessments; inspection, monitoring, testing strategies; performance, maintenance requirements).
- Develop and implement the distribution portion of a comprehensive Electric Delivery Reliability Improvement Plan using empirical data to predict reliability improvements.
- Supervise the tracking, analysis and reporting of reliability metrics for all asset classes; lead continuous improvement efforts; administer performance reviews and individual development plan processes.
- Facilitate system root cause analysis for all asset classes; track resulting action plans to improve system performance.
- Support the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive data collection and predictive modeling tool for distribution assets that prioritizes capital expenditure and complements the Asset Management and Reliability Improvement Plans.
- Maintain measurement of the distribution asset portfolio performance to ensure achievement of organization vision and goals through performance benchmarking.
Education
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited or university.
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred:
Florida Professional Engineers License (Required at the Senior Consulting Engineer level).
Experience
Required:
Minimum of four years of engineering work experience related to distribution asset engineering and/or supervision of distribution personnel.
Preferred:
Minimum of eight years of engineering experience with emphasis on operations and maintenance best practices, risk management and capital planning in power delivery distribution or a closely related industry.
Supervisory Experience
Preferred:
Minimum of two years supervisory experience leading distribution personnel.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA)
Required:
Sound understanding of power delivery distribution engineering principles; working knowledge of electric delivery reliability maintenance practices, continuous improvement practices, and power delivery systems; project management and work management systems experience; ability to organize, lead and resolve technical and process problems; strong communication and motivation skills.
Preferred:
Knowledge of asset management principles such as PAS 55 or ISO 55000 or similar standards/programs.
Key Internal:
Electric Delivery directors, managers, supervisors, and engineers.
Key External:
Emera affiliates, utilities, consultants, contractors, government and/or regulatory agencies, industry associations, vendors.
Must be able to work irregular hours, overtime and possible holidays.
Physical DemandsWalking (sometimes on uneven surfaces), bending and driving as needed.
