MCS is hiring for a Structured Cabling Estimator in Tampa, FL
. This is a full-time, on-site, permanent position with benefits.

The Structured Cabling Estimator must demonstrate a strong understanding of structured cabling systems, excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. The role requires good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team setting. Candidates must keep abreast of industry trends and developments, as well as applicable Government standards.

• Reviewing bid documents, prints, and specifications to understand project requirements.
• Selecting the appropriate materials based on prints and specifications.
• Writing comprehensive scopes of work for estimates.
• Utilizing estimating software, preferably Procore, to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Preparing bills of materials (BOMs) and requesting quotes from vendors and subcontractors.
• Analyzing quotes received and making budget decisions.
• Managing deadlines and capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously, if required.
• Providing Value Engineering (VE) solutions to increase project profitability.

• Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
• Certification Requirements: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (preferred).

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a structured cabling estimator. Experience with layout/design, sales, or field engineering is highly desired.
• Proficiency in estimating software, preferably Procore.
• Field experience in construction is a plus.
• Strong understanding of bid documents, prints, and specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical prints and specifications.
• Strong material selection skills based on project requirements.
• Excellent ability to make basic electrical calculations.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage deadlines and work on multiple projects.
• Proven experience in providing value engineering solutions.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Avigilon, Genentech, and/or Crestron products is highly desirable.

Work Environment

• Work assignments may vary based on client requirements.
• Work may be performed inside a large facility. The inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
• Work may be performed in the field. Outdoor work may include various environmental conditions including hot, dusty, cold, wet, icy, or windy climates.

Schedule

• Regular attendance following an established work schedule is mandatory.
• It is important to be able to work any shift/designated hours required.
• May be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.
• This position may require night and weekend work and could include travel to areas with varying field conditions.

Physical Requirements

• May require climbing ladders, working at heights and in small, confined spaces such as under raised floors, inside closets, and server racks.
• Must possess the capability to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended durations. Will be required to operate in noisy environments with temperatures higher or lower than standard office conditions. Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Sitting ne use and PC/laptop. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.
