Brief Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our landscaping business. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing competitive bids and proposals, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure successful project outcomes. Your expertise in estimating techniques, cost analysis, and project management will play a key role in the growth and profitability of our landscaping business.
Responsibilities- Review project specifications, drawings, and client requirements to understand project scope.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to identify materials, equipment, and labor requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing for materials and services.
- Utilize estimating software and tools to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Evaluate cost factors, including labor, materials, equipment, permits, and subcontractor services.
- Perform cost analysis to identify potential cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Develop pricing strategies that align with the company's financial goals and market competitiveness.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost breakdowns, including quantities, unit costs, and total project costs.
- Ensure pricing accuracy and competitiveness through ongoing market research and benchmarking.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals to clients in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop client‑focused proposals.
- Ensure bids and proposals align with project requirements, specifications, and client expectations.
- Review and understand contractual terms, conditions, and legal requirements.
- Participate in bid review meetings and negotiations with clients.
- Interact with clients to understand their project goals, objectives, and budget constraints.
- Communicate effectively and professionally to address questions, concerns, and requests.
- Provide value‑engineering suggestions and cost‑saving alternatives when appropriate.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional customer service.
- Collaborate with clients to clarify project scope, requirements, and timelines.
- Work closely with sales, design, operations, and project management teams.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to ensure accurate interpretation of project specifications.
- Communicate project requirements and cost breakdowns to the operations team for execution.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to implementation.
- Provide ongoing support and clarification regarding estimates and cost considerations.
- Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes, tools, and templates.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and reduce cycle times.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance estimating skills and knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience (3+ years) in project estimation, preferably in landscaping or construction.
- Strong knowledge of landscaping materials, methods, and cost factors.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
- Solid understanding of project management principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Familiarity with legal and contractual terms and conditions.
- Valid driver's license.
