Role Overview
Provides technical leadership for the design, development, production, test, and sell‑off of simulation training devices. Applies mature engineering knowledge and planning. Fosters a common vision, provides technical direction and priorities, clarifies roles and responsibilities within the team, and acts as the technical link between CAE and the customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Arrange and direct the technical activities of large‑scale programs and coordinate engineering activities across many disciplines.
- Ensure that CAE’s flight simulation products match aircraft specifications, meet contractual requirements, and comply with all technical requirements for each assigned project.
- Schedule and coordinate hardware and software integration phases, command a clear understanding of HSI issues, and implement corrective measures for non‑compliant HSI issues.
- Provide technical expertise during subjective and objective evaluations of training devices, manage the resolution of all acceptance faults, and participate in installations and final sell‑off of training devices.
- Coordinate and review technical/operational deliverables prior to submission to the customer; be responsible for the training device from requirements to final acceptance.
- Author, coordinate, and lead presentations of formal reviews with customers as required by assigned projects.
- Provide support for Program Managers on all technical matters and act as the focal point for all customer technical matters with hands‑on solutions to hardware and software problems.
- Resolve technical problems and provide technical support on subsystem designs.
- Assign project team to specific tasks based on project requirements and develop overall system architecture and technical directives and standards to transfer technical knowledge of product capabilities to the customer.
- Conduct Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimate reviews, Firm Fixed Price cost estimate reviews, Technical Specification generation and reviews, responses to Request for Proposal (RFP), and technical supervision and assessment of subcontracted efforts.
- Undertake independent studies, analysis, interpretations, and conclusions, and provide guidance to junior team members.
- BS or MS Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience with at least 7 years in flight simulation, including detailed knowledge of flight simulator hardware and software technology.
- Ability to create and understand technical documents related to aircraft, computers, electronics, and flight simulation technology.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Must comply with all company security and data protection policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials in any form. Shall not divulge any information to employees not having a need‑to‑know or outside the company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company‑provided resources.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
