Job Description

The School of Marketing and Innovation at the Muma College of Business, University of South Florida, invites applications for a full-time Instructor position in Marketing based on its Tampa campus. Candidates must have a minimum of a master’s degree (PhD. or DBA preferred) in a related field from an accredited University or expect to complete such a degree prior to the start date.

Significant professional work experience in marketing is preferred, and strong connections to the local business community are a plus.

The successful candidate will be able to effectively teach a variety of marketing and sales courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Substantial student-centered service to the institution is also expected. Ideally, the individual hired for this position will be qualified to lead a marketing practice center that links students with paid short term marketing projects at local businesses and/or serve as a faculty advisor to a student organization.

This is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure-track position. Compensation for summer courses, when scheduled, is in addition to the base salary.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibility is teaching; assignments may also include research, service, and/or academic advising and related activities, and the position may represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or statewide committees.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s, PhD, or DBA in a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Instructor or Assistant Professor of Instruction.

Primary Considerations:

  • Evidence of superior teaching ability in marketing at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Interest and ability to lead student-centered service initiatives as described in the job posting.
  • Significant professional work experience in marketing.

Other Considerations:

  • Connections to the local business community.
  • Evidence of strong collegiality.
  • Reputation of program granting the candidate’s degree.
  • Reputation of program(s) and organizations where candidate was previously employed.
