Job Overview
Performs professional and supervisory library duties by managing a library agency or library function.
Ideal CandidateSupervisory Librarians lead and mentor staff and communicate the library's mission and strategic plan as part of the library's Leadership Team. This Supervisory Librarian position assists management in the operation of the Library Learning Experiences function within the Programming unit of Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library.
The Supervisory Librarian - Learning Experiences (LEX) oversees the LEX team, including performance management and support for system wide initiatives and projects. This position is responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing programming curriculum for school age children, teens, and adults.
Position duties include:
- Programming Administration:Develop, promote, and present programming; coordinate, market and manage programs led by outside presenters; assist in development and monitoring of programming budget; assist with grant writing and implementation for programming classes and initiatives.
- Programming Evaluation: Observe classes and events and provide feedback; review and analyze programming statistics; monitor effectiveness of program initiatives and recommend improvements; conduct staff training.
- Collaboration & Partnerships: Work with the Friends of the Library and other agencies and organizations on programming; coordinate across library divisions to communicate and support programming needs; represent the library in community initiatives; participate in community engagement and outreach.
- Management:Execute performance management duties; lead staff meetings and hold meetings with direct reports; manage employee time cards; prepare staff schedules.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Library Science and at least two years of professional librarian experience in public libraries, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
Bilingual skills (speaking and writing proficiency in English and Spanish) are highly desirable.
Starting Salary$55,099 - $71,635

- Executes performance management duties to include but not limited to: training, coaching, documenting and evaluating performance of subordinate staff and administering the progressive discipline process.
