Position Details

The Henry

B. Plant Museum at the University of Tampa has an opening for a Curator of Education. The Curator will be responsible for all museum educational activities and will report to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational programs for children and adults.
  • Implement grant writing.
  • Develop and conduct training for docents and volunteers.
  • Coordinate and conduct museum tours.
  • Identify and invite guest speakers and performing artists.
  • Develop and coordinate special events.
  • Coordinate onsite and outreach theater programs.
  • Present public talks and workshops.
  • Develop materials to be used by 4th grade social studies teachers.
  • Read and research to build knowledge of historical content related to permanent and special exhibits.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in history, education or related field;
    Master’s preferred.
  • Prior experience in an American history museum or Florida history museum preferred.
  • Prior experience developing lesson plans for K‑12 students preferred.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
  • Proven ability in public speaking.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret historical information.
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and organizational skills as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely.
Work Schedule

Monday‑Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
