Overview
The Assistant Instructor, Child Care, will assist the HOST Instructor in planning and implementing the program, collecting childcare fees, issuing receipts to parents, and assisting in managing the childcare aides assigned to the school site. The Assistant Instructor, Child Care, assumes the role of instructor in the HOST Instructor's absence.
Supervisory and District Expectations- Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department.
- Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable state and federal laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is a part of a reliable and predictable pattern of attendance.
- Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
- Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
- Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.
- Provide direct supervision of students.
- Enforce program discipline code.
- Ensure safety and security of students, including hazards, accidents, unauthorized visitors, and unauthorized release of students.
- Assist the HOST Instructor in maintaining accurate attendance records.
- Interact effectively with students, staff, and community.
- Assist the HOST Instructor in collecting childcare fees and issuing receipts to parents.
- Assist the HOST Instructor in overall responsibility for programs at their school site.
- Assist the HOST Instructor in managing the aides assigned to the school site.
- Assist the HOST Instructor in conducting meetings and training the childcare aides.
- Assume the role of instructor in the absence of the HOST Instructor.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience:
One (1) year of increasingly responsible experience working in a childcare facility.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: A valid driver’s license. Completion of Child Care Worker course (30 course hours), completion of Multi Media First Aid training (8 hours), and Certified in Pediatric CPR.
Language
Skills:
Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical
Skills:
Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with tens and hundreds. Performs these operations using units of American money and measurement of weight, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer
Skills:
Microsoft Office.
- Standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
- Lifting up to 10 pounds.
- Reaching with both dominant and non-dominant hands; overhead.
