Certificate Instructor, Child Care – HOST, Elem

Hillsborough County Public Schools is seeking a Certified Instructor, Child Care to perform field and office work in the inspection of child care facilities and related programs. Duties are carried out under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor, with performance evaluated through observation, periodic conferences, critiques, and record‑keeping.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect and observe facilities, staff, and operation of the program.
  • Conduct on‑site inspections and observations of facilities and program operations.
  • Confer with operating staff and provide technical advice and guidance, disseminating information as needed.
  • Investigate complaints and/or problems.
  • Maintain records of, and render reports on, visitations conducted and any actions taken.
  • Handle substitute needs for staffing.
  • Assist in screening potential applicants to work in the program.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Responsibilities and tasks may change as determined by district needs.
Qualifications
  • Childcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Certificates/Registrations:
    Attend 15 hours of child care training each year and maintain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Training must be completed within three (3) months of appointment.
  • Language

    Skills:

    Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; writes routine reports and correspondence; speaks effectively before groups.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; computes rates, ratios, and percentages; draws and interprets bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer

    Skills:

    None.
Physical Demands
  • Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, hearing, near acuity, and field of vision.
  • Lifting Demands:
    Up to 55 pounds.
  • Reaching

    Activities:

    Both dominant and non‑dominant hand; overhead.
  • Environmental Conditions:

    Noise intensity moderate.
