Overview
The Secondary Teacher (grades 6-12) is responsible for the instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within a secondary school.

- Design and implement appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
- Create and deliver relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
- Utilize a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to meet the individual needs of students.
- Observe and evaluate student performance and mastery of standards, monitor assessment data, and maintain student grades and attendance.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom using effective classroom management strategies and appropriate disciplinary procedures.
- Communicate with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourage parental involvement.
- Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Appropriately maintain and secure confidential records, inquiries, and data.
- Maintain appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
- Performs any other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and tasks outlined are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the district.

Certificates/Licenses:
Florida Professional Educator Certificate preferred; eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate required. - Language, math, reasoning, and computer skills:
