The Elementary Teacher is responsible for the instruction of designated content area(s)/course(s) in a classroom setting within an elementary school.
DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS:

- Designs and implements appropriate instruction of content area(s)/course(s) assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs.
- Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
- Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement.
- Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students.
- Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors student assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
- Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures.
- Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement.
- Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, and data.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
- Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Other Information- Communication:
Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally and in written form; keeps others adequately informed. - Job Knowledge:
Competent in required job skills and knowledge; keeps abreast of current developments. - Judgment:
Makes timely decisions and explains reasoning; includes appropriate people in decision making. - Project Management:
Develops project plans and coordinates projects; completes projects on time and within budget. - Planning & Organization:
Plans work activities, uses time efficiently, and sets goals. - Note:
School Board Policy ensures equal opportunity and non-discrimination in personnel policies and practices. - Veteran preference may apply; district may accord preference in certain procedures.
- Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Elementary Education required. - Language Skills:
Reads, analyzes, and interprets documents; responds to inquiries; writes and presents effectively. - Mathematical Skills:
Works with math concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. - Reasoning Ability:
Solves practical problems; interprets instructions in various forms. - Computer Skills:
Microsoft Office.
