Position: Open Rank Academic IBD Gastroenterologist

Overview

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a faculty physician devoted to diagnosing and treating Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. The USF Health team includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and others that work together to offer long-term relief for IBD symptoms, to minimize flare-ups and to help achieve longer periods of remission.

Clinical practice includes hospital rotations, inpatient and outpatient endoscopy, and conducts ambulatory clinics in the IBD Center. The successful candidate should also have an interest in building medical/educational research footprint focused on conducting a nationally competitive research program.

Responsibilities
  • CLINICAL:
    The primary clinical focus will be Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). IBD Clinic services include advanced medical diagnosis and care by gastroenterologists
  • ADMINISTRATIVE: chart completion, patient follow-up, triaging calls and labs,
  • RESEARCH:
    Participate in research and other scholarly activities to develop and maintain a nationally competitive research program. Engage other faculty to cultivate an environment that promotes personalized and multidisciplinary research,. Identify and apply for funding opportunities that will support the mission of the department, program and campus.
  • TEACHING:
    Participate in didactic teaching and mentoring of medical and/or graduate students, residents and/or post-doctoral fellows. Participate in the development of the IBD Fellowship Program.
  • Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university.
  • Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
  • Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
  • May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Qualifications

MINIMUM:
Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate or Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.

Strong interest in esophageal and liver diseases and general motility in addition to inflammatory bowel disease.

Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties.

The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine. us be board-certified/board-eligible in Internal Medicine / Gastroenterology / Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
