What You Will Do

Tampa, FL. GFT is seeking a Landscape Architect to support projects in the Mid-Atlantic & Southeast region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at Baltimore, MD;
Mechanicsburg, PA; or Tampa, FL.

What You’ll Be Challenged To DoGFT is seeking a Landscape Architect for our site/civil practice within the buildings & places business group. The position participates in project teams for the planning, design, and construction administration of public and private projects. Clients and projects may be in various locations in the Mid-Atlantic region. Candidate must have flexibility to travel within the region periodically.
Responsibilities include production of engineering and design deliverables in accordance with GFT procedures and standards for projects across the business line. This will involve collaborating with PMs and Site/Civil Engineers to deliver successful projects to a variety of GFT clients.
- Participate in the project pursuit decision (go/no-go)
- Participate in the development and preparation of proposals
- Participate in presenting proposals to clients and other stakeholders
- Develop landscape architectural designs in coordination with engineering teams, including grading, drainage, utilities, and ADA considerations
- Prepare landscape plans, hardscape plans, planting plans, irrigation plans, details, schedules, and specifications suitable for permitting and construction.
- Support an array of projects across multiple states, adapting designs to varying municipal standards, climate zones, and regulatory requirements
- Assist with permitting documentation and responses to agency comments related to landscape, buffering, screening, tree protection, and open space
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders.
- Provide constructability input and support during later design phases and, as needed, during construction
- Participate in project meetings and assist with scope development and fee support related to landscape services
- Maintain organized, high-quality drawing sets consistent with company CAD standards
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program
- Landscape Architect license is strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of landscape architecture experience required, including a thorough knowledge of the requirements of local, state and federal agencies having site plan approval jurisdiction.
- Working knowledge of site grading, drainage concepts, and coordination with civil engineering design
- Experience preparing plans for municipal or state permitting
- Experience working on projects across multiple states or regions
- Familiarity with southeastern and/or northeastern plant palettes and environmental considerations
- Comfort working in multidisciplinary engineering-led project teams
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Salary range: $85,000 - $105,000 (dependent on experience and geographic location).
