The Medical Writer will playa central rolein advancing
Conexiant’soncologyandmulti-speciality publishing portfolio. This position combines strategic editorial oversight with hands-on content development,content research,identification of key opinion leaders, relationships with oncology and multi-specialty thought leaders,and cross-functional collaboration. The role is designed for an experienced oncology medical editor and multi-specialty science writer who can elevate editorial quality while aligning content strategy with commercial publishing objectives. The majority of the work will be in the oncology area, but this role must be able to cross specialties and research, write, and build relationships with specialties and medical professionals outside of oncology.
- Lead the development,research, interviewing, and writing of authoritative oncology and multi-specialty content
- Collaborate closely with medical societies and society leadership and enterprise teams to alignclinicalcontent with business goals.
- Devise content strategy towrite material (including research, editing, and solicitation of thought leaders) toensuretimely, relevant, and high-quality coverage across platforms
- Uphold rigorous editorial and scientific standards while meeting production deadlines.
- Distill peer-reviewed studies, guidelines, and scientific sessions into concise, accessible content for physicians and allied professionals.
- Track major oncology meetings, breaking research, and new therapies to support real-time news coverage.
- Partner with editors, medical advisors, and design/production teams to deliver content across newsletters, web, and print.
- Incorporate feedback, readership analytics, and editorial direction to refine writing style and maximize engagement.
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, medical or life sciences, or a related field is required; an advanced degree (master’s or doctoral level) in science, medicine, public health, or a related discipline is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in oncology editorial publishing, including heavy emphasis on researching, interviewing,writing, editing, and content strategy
- Experience conducting web-based and one-on-one interviews with key opinion leaders.
- Familiarity with publishing and workflow tools such as Quark, Umbraco, InCopy/InDesign, and Asana is a plus.
- Proficiency in a Microsoft-based office environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, collaborative approach.
- Experience writing and editor for AMA style.
- Proven track record of producing high-impact oncology and other medical content and interviewing leaders across medical specialties and national organizations.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key members across medical centers and medical societies. Strong editorial judgment.
- Leadership experience and established relationships within the oncology community.
- The Medical Writer must have 10+ years of experience in oncology editorial publishing, with deep expertise in researching, interviewing, writing, and editing high-impact medical content for clinician audiences.
- The role requires strong editorial judgment, thorough knowledge of oncology research and clinical practice, and mastery of AMA style.
- Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills, proven ability to build relationships with key opinion leaders and medical societies, and experience contributing to editorial strategy and leadership.
- The ideal candidate can confidently cover oncology while also producing authoritative multi-specialty content, manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and work effectively with publishing tools and cross-functional teams.
