Civil Construction Intern

Burgess Civil internship program provides hands-on experience in construction project estimation, office operations, fieldwork, safety, and training. Interns will gain industry knowledge, understand workflows, and develop essential skills for a career in construction.

Responsibilities:
Interns will participate in a structured program covering:

• Learn fundamentals of construction cost estimation and budgeting.
• Understand project drawings, BOQs (Bill of Quantities), and specifications.
• Get introduced to estimation software (Agtek, HCSS Heavy Bid).
• Perform material takeoff and cost estimation for labor, material, and equipment.
• Prepare a sample project estimate and review reports with junior estimators.
• Gain exposure to project management, documentation, and procurement.
• Learn contract management, RFIs, and submittals.
• Practice document control and folder organization techniques.
• Understand construction project scheduling using Primavera P6 and Procore.
• Work with subcontractors and vendors on procurement processes.
• Review cost coding and invoice routines.
• Visit to different job sites
• Basic of Safety and Environmental in a Civil Construction company

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related program, other academic backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
• Basic understanding of construction principles.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
