The Spear Group has an exciting facilities / campus site construction project leadership career opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable Owner’s side Construction Manager (with structural steel and concrete project experience) to help manage, implement, and support capital improvement projects at industrial processing sites. Our client is a large industrial processing company with multiple sites in Florida, and each site is in need of an owner’s / stakeholder side CM to assess facility upgrades and plan and execute, field lead, and track costs of facility capital projects delivery for the owner.
This CM will support the assessment and field execution of industrial facility upgrade capital projects. This role requires a CM with previous industrial or commercial structural steel and concrete experience and responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on industrial or commercial facilities capital project construction experience. In addition to required structural steel and concrete experience, the ideal Construction Manager will have field experience encompassing writing and developing scopes of work along with experience tracking cost throughout the project and being able to report to owner.
Key Responsibilities- Write and develop project scopes
- Track/monitor/report construction project costs, timeline, and field staff
- Lead, supervise, and inspect construction work for industrial facilities infrastructure projects, including steel structures, piping systems, concrete, water management, and general facility infrastructure repairs/upgrades
- Manage contractors, subcontractors, and crews to ensure work meets quality, safety, and schedule standards
- Oversee project execution including scope, budget, and schedule adherence in collaboration with owner / stakeholder teams
- Conduct inspections, review submittals, RFIs, change orders, and document construction progress
- Promote safety through risk assessments, pre-job planning, and enforcing safety compliance with corporate and OSHA safety standards and reporting
- Utilize infrastructure inspection and assessment experience in conjunction with project management strategic processes to identify and then execute industrial site continuous improvement capital projects while always fostering safety, efficiency, and high quality capital project delivery
- Mentor and guide field personnel and trades crews to ensure high performance, successful solution resolution, professional development, owner/stakeholder best interests, and project team goals
- Construction Management experience working on projects for brownfield industrial or commercial construction sites, manufacturing/processing site project experience a plus
- Related bachelor’s degree is a plus
- Based locally in Florida site areas
- Familiarity with capital project management processes / phases / steps / reporting and industrial construction standards
- 3–10+ years of experience with construction management project hands on field work, organization, and oversight, capital project execution, and/or construction field inspection and supervision
- Hands-on experience with industrial capital projects dealing with structural steel and concrete planning and installation is required
- Proven ability to be responsible for the supervision and management of field staff and tradespeople and contractors in a safe, organized, and proactive, strategic, and productive manner
