We are seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support a federal construction project in the Tampa area. The SSHO will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing all site safety and health requirements in accordance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 standards.
This role requires a strong on-site presence, consistent safety leadership, and the ability to work effectively with project teams, subcontractors, and inspectors.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnforce compliance with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA 29 CFR 1926 safety standards
Develop, implement, and maintain the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA)
Conduct daily safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
Monitor construction activities to ensure safe work practices are followed
Oversee fall protection systems, scaffold operations, and equipment safety
Enforce site housekeeping and hazard control standards
Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all materials and chemicals on site
Provide and document safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing safety training
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports
Coordinate safety compliance with subcontractors and third-party personnel
Lead on-site emergency response coordination when required
Prepare and submit daily safety reports, inspections, and documentation
Utilize construction management systems such as Procore for safety documentation and submittals
Ensure compliance with project requirements, insurance standards, and company safety policies
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Site Safety and Health Officer on federal construction projects
Strong working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and federal construction safety requirements
Ability to remain on-site during all active work shifts
Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Proven ability to enforce safety standards consistently and professionally
OSHA 30 and or EM 385-1-1 certification
Scaffold Competent Person
