Position Summary

Responsible for providing marine project support to Orion. Supervise project operations for Foremen, influence hiring, firing, advancement, and promotion. Collaborate with Barge Foremen, General Superintendent, Project Engineer, Safety Representative, Boat Captain, Pile Drivers, Welders, Carpenters, Laborers, and other skilled or semi‑skilled craft persons on the work site. The incumbent supports Orion core values of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork, underpinned by Integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Work as assigned by the Project Superintendent to ensure successful completion of ongoing marine construction projects.
  • Plan and schedule work activities with Foremen under your supervision, including:
    • Movement of floating rigs between locations
    • Excavation and backfill
    • Concrete foundations
    • Structural steel
    • Pipe fabrication and installation of pipe and pipe supports
    • Testing of pipeline systems
    • Isometric drawings for pipe fabrications if required
  • Monitor construction time schedules to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure proper permits are obtained prior to work commencement.
  • Inspect equipment visually to confirm proper operation.
  • Provide input in hiring, firing, advancement, and promotion decisions.
  • Comply with all Orion Safety/Operational Policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Train new workers in equipment and tool use.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems.
  • Maintain time records for crew employees.
  • Promote a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.
  • Demonstrate safety knowledge concerning chemical and/or process hazards, including lock‑out/tag‑out, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, emergency action plan, work permits, CPR/First Aid, and job/contract requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Superintendent, Barge Foreman, Crane Operators, Welders, Laborers, and other skilled and semi‑skilled crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
  • Possess the qualification and physical ability to drive passenger vehicles to visit work locations and job sites.
  • Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives to maintain compliance with State/Federal regulations and improve company programs.

Position Requirements
  • Minimum seven (7) years marine construction experience on a work barge or comparable experience in a marine construction supervisory capacity.
  • Well‑versed in equipment used for marine operations and integration of multiple crafts (piledriving, crane operations, welding, carpentry, sandblasting, pipe fitting).
  • Previous supervisory experience and certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to maintain simple time and material records.
  • Organized, able to oversee several projects simultaneously and hold Foremen accountable for performance excellence.
  • Ability to influence and motivate Foremen and project team members.
Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Use appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel‑toed shoes, personal flotation devices, etc.).
  • Remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately; evacuate work area promptly if necessary.
  • Capable of: walking, stepping, climbing, moving between locations; standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and climbing; working in confined spaces or at elevated heights; lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.; interpreting dredging changes.
