We are seeking a strategic and dynamic leader to join our team and drive operational efficiency.

We are seeking a strategic, results-driven Director of Business Development & External Affairs to lead our growth initiatives and drive the expansion of new markets, partnerships, and revenue opportunities. This role will lead efforts to grow the organization's footprint in both commercial and government sectors through strategic partnerships, business development initiatives, and public-private collaborations. The ideal candidate is a seasoned business leader with a proven track record of identifying opportunities, building strategic alliances, closing high-value deals, and can navigate complex procurement or contracting processes.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute business development strategies that include government markets, RFPs/RFQs, and agency partnership
  • Lead go-to-market efforts for products or services tailored to public sector client
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, agencies, policymakers, and regulatory bodies
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that impact the organization's business and recommend strategic response
  • Identify, pursue, and negotiate high-value opportunities with government and commercial partner
  • Lead the proposal development process including writing, compliance, and submission strategies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align offerings with compliance needs and regulation
  • Build and mentor a high-performing business development teams
  • Define KPIs and report regularly on performance, risks, and new opportunities to the executive teams
  • Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and public service alignment
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Business Administration, Political Science, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in business development
  • Demonstrated success in navigating public sector procurement, grant funding, and legislative engagement
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams
  • Deep understanding of government contracting processes, compliance requirements, and public policy
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Established network of contacts within local, state, or federal government agencies
  • Experience in the HVAC industry is a plus
  • Able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
