Property Accountant
Location: Remote (U.S.
-based)
Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities of the Property Accountant:
- The Property Accountant will prepare and maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of multifamily properties
- Perform full monthly close, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid and fixed asset accounting, and general ledger maintenance
- Prepare monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and supporting schedules
- Complete variance analysis versus budget and prior periods with clear, concise commentary
- The Property Accountant will manage property-level accounts payable and accounts receivable activity, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis
- Monitor cash activity and assist with cash flow reporting
- Support annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Prepare audit schedules and support external audits as needed
- Partner with property management and asset management teams to resolve accounting issues and improve processes
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in a remote accounting environment
Qualifications for the Property Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience; property or real estate accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting concepts
- Experience with property management/accounting systems (Yardi, MRI, or similar preferred)
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment
- Clear communicator with strong collaboration skills across teams and time zones
